Membership

Would you like to be a member?

Members are invited to our annual membership meeting and any other meetings called by and for our members. Once every two years, members nominate and vote for our Board of Directors.

Members receive a 20% discount on admission at all retreats, and are on the “call” list when special activities come up that we don’t have time to advertise by flyer. More importantly, members sustain this organization’s work in promoting access to the Buddha’s teachings.

Monthly dues are:

• $15 for students and seniors,
• $25 for individuals,
• $35 for families.

When you pay dues and make donations to LSLK, you are helping LSLK provide a space in Knoxville where everyone can meet to practice the Dharma throughout the week and you are helping to pay for travel expenses and stipends for visiting teachers and resident scholars in Knoxville.

Thanks to your support, LSLK can invite teachers to visit Knoxville throughout the year who offer special retreats, teachers like our founder Geshe Dadul Namgyal from Drepung Loseling Monastery in Atlanta, Lama Karma from our sister center Milarepa Retreat Center in Happy Valley, Lama Dudjom Dorjee from Karma Thegsum Choling Dallas, Venerable Constance Miller of the Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition to Knoxville, Lama Inge Zandvoss from Chagdud Gonpa Padma Ling in Spokane, Washington, Lama Lena (Yeshe Kaytup), and Venerable Ajahn Punnadhammo from Arrow River Forest Hermitage. We are always looking for sources of the Dharma who can inspire our practice and need your help to bring them to Knoxville!

Remember, whether or not you become a member, you are always welcome to all events, programs, teaching activities and mailings. We ask people who are interested to become members so that we get some level of regular financial commitment to keep our organization alive. Each month we barely squeak by.

Please send monthly dues to Losel Shedrup Ling of Knoxville, 501 Arthur St., Knoxville, TN 37921. Otherwise, you can drop it in the donation basket during regular meetings.

Make checks payable to “LSLK” and write on the check that it is for dues and the month to which the dues should be applied (e.g. “Dues, October 2013”). If you pay in cash, please include a note with your name and the month covered.
